The current foreclosure crisis is the result of a broken financial system. This system has not been regulated to protect communities and the people that make up our communities. This crisis is not – as some would have us believe - the result of borrowers making bad decisions. A lack of regulation in the mortgage financial industry has encouraged bad loans and led to millions of American families facing foreclosure.
The Foreclosure Photo Project reveals the human suffering and community devastation spawned by an unregulated mortgage industry. Let’s work together to tell the REAL story of the foreclosure crisis. It is critical to expose the scope and depth of the foreclosure crisis to ensure a comprehensive response from our government and the mortgage industry.
The only way to fight the foreclosure crisis and protect our communities is to work together!
Please contact us if you have a story to share. We want to hear about and SEE what the foreclosure crisis looks like in your community. Send us digital photos of foreclosed or abandoned properties in your community, stories about people and families you know impacted by this crisis, and photos to illustrate the community impact of this crisis. Photos sent with requested information in will appear on the Foreclosure Photo Project website.
Please include the following information when sending your foreclosure photos:
National Training and Information Center (NTIC) has been at the forefront of organizing everyday people to win crucial changes in their neighborhoods and communities since 1972. Together with organized communities, we have held government and corporate America responsible for their actions through campaigns for access to credit and capital, better schools, worker rights, and quality housing. Support our work with a donation to NTIC.
If you are currently facing foreclosure and need help, please check the list of the Save the American Dream campaign endorsers for an organization in your community that may be able to help.
If you are part of a community organization and want to be part of the Foreclosure Photo Project, please contact Gail Parson, Campaign Director at (312) 243-3035. NTIC would like to work with your organization to involve members of your community in this important campaign.
